Bernier: How I'll play Santa Anita for Sunday, July 2

Admittedly most of my attention for Sunday's racing is north of the border at Woodbine for Queen’s Plate Sunday. Sunday’s card at Santa Anita shouldn’t go overlooked, however – there’s a 2-year-old stakes race on tap, as well as a carryover in the single-ticket Jackpot Pick Six of nearly $351,000. Here are some ideas for two of the six races featured in that sequence.

Gierkink: How I'll play the Queen's Plate card Sunday

The late pick four on the fabulous 13-race Queen’s Plate card commences with the $1 million Plate. It has a guaranteed pool of $300,000.

I love the two fillies in the Plate – Woodbine Oaks winner HOLY HELENA (3) and INFLEXIBILITY (5), who was a troubled third as the favorite in the nine-furlong Oaks. I’ll key the former on my $1 pick-four ticket, and my 20-cent backup ticket will key the latter.

Beer: How I'd play Belmont for Saturday, July 1

Saturday's late pick four at Belmont features two stakes races: the $100,000 Perfect Sting, for fillies and mares on the turf, and the Grade 2 Mother Goose, for 3-year-old fillies on dirt.

I am looking to get involved in the Mother Goose and will put together a late pick four play that focuses on that race.
