I’ll play a couple of $1 pick-three tickets starting with Race 5, which also happens to start the $2 pick six. The cost of melding these tickets together into a pick six might be a bit pricey for some ($160, to be exact), which is why I’ve gone with this option (although, feel free to …).

We now know why they changed the name of our 3-year-old Pick last week to Unpredictable: Off slow, raced wide, not interested. As for the 2-year-old Pick, one of our keys, Gracida, was an impressive winner at $5,60, while the other folded early. Ironically, we were torn last week between focusing on the race we selected at Del Mar and the other one on the card, the third race.
DEL MAR, Calif. - The carryover in the single ticket jackpot pool of the $2 pick six has reached $257,533 for Friday’s program at Del Mar.
Thursday’s pick six paid $146,917 on a day with two winning favorites in the sequence.
The main pick six pool had a two-day carryover of $271,496 for Thursday. There was a carryover of $126,816 at the start of the program in the single ticket jackpot pool, which is distributed only if there is a single winning ticket.

Should get an honest pace to close into with multiple speeds in the field.
Ran better than it appears in his dirt races after chasing fast paces on a few occasions.
May have improved for the Ray Handal barn, and now switches back to his preferred surface.

Dwelt at the start last time, costing her any chance of being competitive.
Ran well despite being compromised by a slow pace in her debut at the Spa last year.
Carlos Martin, who gets just a 35 Trainer Rating first time back off a layoff, gets a 76 Trainer Rating second off a layoff.

Race 7
Man of Wiregrass (#6)
Put in a decent effort against a salty group of open claimers last time, going a distance that is a little short for him.
He is one of the few horses with speed in a race where two of his major rivals are plodding late runners.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Mike Maker is 12 for 46 (26 percent, $3.19 ROI) in turf races at 10 furlongs or farther on the NYRA circuit.
