TESSERON

Last race: July 22, 5th
Finish: 3rd by 2 1/4
Beyer: 77
He awaited room in the stretch and was arguably best in the first race of Woodbine’s new turf-endurance series. The classy veteran should be prominent in the next leg, which will be his second start off a $16,000 claim.

This 3-year-old debut filly ran a winning race. She chased the pace and finished clear of third. With a race under her belt, she might be a standout in next special-weight sprint.
Race 3:
Colorful Charades (#3)
Survived a fast pace to win her debut sprinting last summer.
Was totally overmatched in two Grade 1 routes at the end of last year.
The Pace Projector is predicting she will be on the lead in a situation favoring the front-runner.

The talk of the racing world for the next few days will focus on Arrogate’s stunning loss in Saturday’s San Diego Handicap, but let us not forget: there’s plenty of good racing on Sunday’s program at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
Two horses competing in turf races intrigued me from an exotic standpoint. One is in Sunday’s third race - the Wickerr - while the other is in Sunday’s fifth.
Race 2:
We Did (#8)
Is getting some needed class relief.
Encountered unfavorable pace scenarios in his two recent races at Parx.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Bruce Levine is 9 for 47 (19 percent, $2.47 ROI) in straight claiming dirt sprints at Saratoga.

Trainer Danny Gargan has two entries on the 11-race Sunday card at Saratoga, and both were easy winners last out. Gargan shows a 30 percent strike rate with last-out winners (29 for 84), and I’ll give both horses a big chance when using them on opposite ends of pick-three wagers. They’re the must-win cornerstones in my first two plays of the day.
DEL MAR, Calif. – Want to back a winner on Saturday at Del Mar? The odds-on favorite looks tough in the ninth race. Thankfully, several races offer more value than Arrogate in the TVG San Diego Handicap. Here is a look at four appealing options.

Browse (#7)
Had a nightmare of a trip last time – was taken too far off the pace and buried inside before encountering traffic late.
Is bred to handle turf as a half-sister to Grade 1-winning turfer Imagining.
Is predicted to be on or near the lead early, which is her preferred running style.
