Race 5: Jazzy J (#6)

The Pace Projector is predicting a fast pace, which should help a late runner like this filly.

Was simply in over her head while racing on the wrong surface in her last two starts.

Eric Cancel does a good job of getting longshots to run from off the pace.

Free: Del Mar horses to watch for week of Nov. 5, 2018

DIOSA

Trainer: Mike Pender

Last race: Nov. 2, race 6

Finish: Second by two and one-quarter lengths

Beyer: 41

Facing winners for the first time, this 2-year-old filly set a fast pace at six and a half, opened up, tired. Her effort was better than the low figure. Long gone next out vs. similar?

Wednesday TimeformUS Highlight Horse: Getoffmyback’s recent form is better than it appears

This $32,000 claiming race is a deceptively competitive affair despite attracting just six runners. Most are coming in from wildly different class levels, so assessing their form relative to each other is especially difficult.

Jerardi: Stormy Liberal's 119 Beyer one for the books

Barbara D. Livingston
Stormy Liberal's 119 Beyer is the highest ever recorded on grass.

So what was the single best performance of the Breeders’ Cup? Well, there was the 2-year-old filly Newspaperofrecord ending the Juvenile Fillies Turf a few steps out of the gate, winning like she could win any grass race anywhere in the world some day. There was the great 4-year-old filly Enable and the 3-year-old filly Magical running away from the field in the stretch of the Turf, Enable edging away late to win her sixth consecutive Group or Grade 1 race while becoming the first horse to get the Arc-Turf double in the same year.

Race 6: Radiant Beauty (#4)

Ran well enough to be competitive in this spot when she actually got fair trips earlier in the  year.

Was badly compromised by a 2- to 3-wide trip against an intensely rail-biased turf course last time.

The Pace Projector is predicting a situation that favors the front-runners and she is fast enough to make the front.

Race 4: Life Mission (#2)
Faced strong company in Ireland, running third behind eventual Group 1 winner Ten Sovereigns in August.
Did well to close for second in his stakes debut at Kentucky Downs despite moderate early fractions.
Ran better than it appears after getting shuffled back on the turn last time.

Peck: Pick five for Breeders' Cup Saturday card

Hit the relatively chalky pick four (races 6-9) yesterday in the Breeders' Cup, so we'll parlay that return ($278.20) into today's pick five, which begins with race 7 and culminates with the Breeders' Cup Classic:
