BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, November 10, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

When our Pick, Ma Bella, was scratched last week we thought the next two we liked might come forward to save us. Alas, it was the one we didn’t like. Discrete Stevie B, who helped light up the exacta and trifecta numbers for BreezeFigs players as our gimmick toss-in, Sass Machine finished third and our second choice, La Dolfina, finished somewhere in Nevada.

King: Five prospects to watch for the 2019 Kentucky Derby

Jim Leuenberger
The Bob-Baffert trained Improbable impressed in winning the one-mile Street Sense Stakes on the Breeders’ Cup Friday undercard at Churchill Downs.

The moment Game Winner crossed the wire first in the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill, the early Kentucky Derby favorite was clearly established. Lengths the best, overcoming a wide trip and midstretch bumping, he showed off all the tools that suggest that, health permitting, he will be a force on the first Saturday in May.

Weekend Warrior for Saturday, Nov. 10: Picks for the Richard W. Small Stakes, City of Laurel Stakes, Let It Ride Stakes

Joe Labozzetta/NYRA
Zanotti won the 2017 Queens County Stakes, but is winless in 2018.

The Breeders’ Cup may be behind us but there is some fun racing to look forward to Saturday. The Grade 3, $100,000 Commonwealth Turf at Churchill Downs is the only graded stakes event on the schedule, but Laurel has an interesting card on its Salute the Troops Day with five $100,000 stakes, ostensibly led by the Richard W. Small. Aqueduct has a turf stakes doubleheader scheduled in the $150,000 Artie Schiller and the $100,000 Atlantic Beach, while the feature at Del Mar is the $75,000 Let It Ride.
