TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018

Race 5: Bernardino (#3)
Had worked well prior to his debut and ran better than his final finishing position suggests.
Despite being up against a slow pace, he ran the fastest final quarter-mile of all in his debut after getting held up early.
Is bred to be a decent turf horse as a half-brother to turf winners Manofffire and Given Fire.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, November 24, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Yes, we are stuffed, but we don’t feel like we were stuffed with turkey yesterday as much as we felt stuffed by what happened to our Pick last week. Granted, the winner is obviously a special colt but was not a BreezeFigs horse; however, we really thought our selection, Light of the World, is a good colt as well. Then the gate opened and either the horse or the rider went to sleep. Or maybe this was one of those “give him a race” deals. In any case, why pout?

Race 8: Collegeville Girl (#11)

The 97 TimeformUS Speed Figure that she earned in her debut is among the highest numbers in this field.

While the Pace Projector is predicting a fast pace, she is expected to be faster than the other speeds early and may shake loose.

Richard Vega gets a 91 TimeformUS Trainer Rating with horses who won their maidens last time out.

Weekend Warrior for Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018: Picks for the Discovery, Kentucky Jockey Club, and Seabiscuit

After a few weeks of lean stakes action following the Breeders’ Cup, the Thanksgiving weekend provides handicappers a wealth of opportunity from coast to coast. There are plenty of races to choose from on Saturday, but I think my spread is enticing – a 3-year-old route in New York on the main track, a 2-year-old route in Kentucky on the main track, and a route for 3-year-olds and up on grass in California.

Race 5: Take It to Scale (#6)

Ran a competitive speed figure two back when he was racing close to the pace.

Got the wrong trip last time after breaking slowly and racing out of position throughout.

Should sit a perfect trip this time stalking heavy favorite Dark Ops, who should get more pressure from Three to Thirteen.

Race 3: Pete’s Play Call (#5)

Ran well to be second last time despite racing two to three wide over a track that was favoring inside paths.

Appears to be rounding back into top form after some disappointing efforts this summer.

Ran the best race of his career going this distance over the Aqueduct main track last November.
