BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, February 2, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

As Oliver would say to Stanley, “Well, this is another fine mess you’ve gotten me into.” Reference in our case of course is to our Pick last week which came off the grass onto the soupy Gulfstream Park main surface and threw our prognostications into the air. That was until our key, Midnight Oasis, and our gimmick play, Traveling, wound up swimming into third and fourth at the wire to complete small, but eminently cashable, payoffs.

TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Friday, Feb. 1, 2019

Race 2: Into a Hot Spot (#4)
Should appreciate the stretch-out to seven furlongs more than his stablemate Iona Mobe.
The addition of blinkers should benefit him after he lost focus on the far turn last time.
Appears to still be improving at this point in his career, unlike other short prices in this field.
7-2 on ML

Hersh: Fair Grounds horses to watch for week of Jan. 30, 2019

December Seven
Trainer: Paul McGee
Last race: Jan. 26, race 5
Finish: Fifth, beaten one length
Beyer Speed Figure: 86

First start in nine months came on turf and so far in career 6-year-old gelding has been a dirt horse. Set moderate pace and held surprisingly well considering layoff/surface. In for $80K tag here in this optional claimer, and since he was almost 22-1 here the price might still be square in second start back from break.

Rampellini: Oaklawn Park horses to watch for week of Jan. 30, 2019

JERSEY AGENDA
Trainer: Steve Asmussen
Last race: Jan. 26, 7th
Finish: 1st by 2 3/4
Beyer: 84
He convincingly handled a pair of significant new variables in a first-level allowance at a mile. It was his first race against winners – and he faced a deep field – as well as his first race around two turns. Asmussen said Jersey Agenda is now being considered for the Grade 3, $500,000 Southwest on Feb. 18 at Oaklawn.

Peck: Tampa Bay Downs horses to watch for week of Jan. 30, 2019

GLOSSY
Trainer: Bill Mott
Date: Jan. 23, 3rd
Finish: 6th by 3
Beyer: 68
Off the board here, but a lack of pace in this turf sprint left her with too much to do; can make amends next time given a better setup, as the speeds dominated this one.
