Weekend GamePlan for Oct.9, 2021: Picks for Keeneland Turf Mile, First Lady, Joe Hirsch Turf Classic

Debra A. Roma
Order of Australia, who got into the race off the also-eligible list, wins the Breeders' Cup Mile under Pierre-Charles Boudot, who picked up the mount because original rider Christophe Soumillion tested positive for Covid.

A spectacularly competitive set of Grade 1 races is scheduled for the first Saturday of Keeneland’s fall meeting. We’ll try to puzzle through two of those and dredge up a throwback performance from a 7-year-old front-runner at Belmont.

Keeneland Turf Mile

He’s 7-2 on the morning line and could go off a tick shorter than that, but I still really like Order of Australia in the 13-runner Keeneland Turf Mile.

Kenny Peck's Belmont Pick 6 Play for Saturday, October 9

Jim Sewastynowicz
Total handle on the Belmont Stakes card was $112.7 million, a record for a non-Triple Crown Belmont card.

Kenny Peck provides his analysis, selections and suggested ticket structure for Saturday's Pick 6 at Belmont.

RACE 6: Using them all in the Matron, a wide-open turf sprint that’s difficult to narrow down with a firm opinion. Top pick MAINSTAY is making her turf debut, like a few of these runners, but she could fall into an ideal trip behind a contested pace, as could any number of these runners.

Sunday TimeformUS Highlight Horse: Zoomer can get back on track first off the claim

The scratch of morning-line favorite American Dubai changes this race quite a bit. Two Thirty Five (#3) could now inherit favoritism, though Mike Maker doesn’t have the greatest stats off the claim on dirt and I didn’t think this horse had a major excuse last time. I prefer some alternatives.

Kenny Peck's Belmont Pick 6 Play for Saturday, October 2

Total handle on the Belmont Stakes card was $112.7 million, a record for a non-Triple Crown Belmont card.

Kenny Peck provides his analysis, selections and suggested ticket structure for Saturday's Pick 6 at Belmont.

RACE 6: Not easy to get a line on this Maiden Special Weight sprint for 2-year-old fillies on the turf, by definition a wide-open race. Without the benefit of seeing the board it’s best to wrap it up for the purposes of this “caveman” ticket and use them all, and hope for something wild.
