Yonkers Analysis: Saturday 1/14/12
Best Bet: HICKORY HORACE (8th) Spot: SHOW ME UP (10th)
Race 1
(8) TENANT IN CHIEF was going nowhere from a tough spot last out at The Meadowlands; Vallee charge has plenty of class and he appears capable of overcoming the outside starting spot. (3) RUCKER PLACE gets some class relief, was a good second two back and he was Brennan's choice of four. (2) EAGLE NOW also drops but his stamina has been called into question recently.
Race 2
(6) KYLE MAJOR finds a pretty soft spot here and he's capable of taking these the distance. (1) MC RUSTY had a nice three-year-old campaign. (3) MANCHINE has some class to him and he gets some post relief tonight.
Race 3
(2) ARTS LAIR put in pretty game effort last month versus similar and he should be forwardly placed again from this spot. (1) JOEY THE CZAR flashed solid speed before giving way in his local return; gelding has a decent history here. (3) NORTHERN MCARDLE has Brennan driving and could threaten late off a ground-saving trip.
Race 4
(4) GENERAL MONTGOMERY steps up to face tougher but the Pena charge has got a ton of speed and he would be no surprise here. (3) LETS ROLL JOE should be close up from this spot and he is capable of grinding his way to the front. (2) T M TOP GUN has been super in all recent, but he gets a bit of a class test tonight.
Race 5
(2) GREYSTONE CASH drops back to the level of his win two back and he would appear pretty logical from this spot. (3) NY ICE has some speed, should be forwardly placed. (5) PEMBROKE NICK grinded his way to victory two back, then regressed last out; which gelding will show up tonight?
Race 6
(5) SILENT SWING was Brennan's choice of four and one could assume he's gunning right to the front. (2) ANDY ROO was a game winner last week at The Meadowlands. (4) TOBAGO CAYS just missed here on the final weekend of 2011.
Race 7
(6) ELECTRIC OUI was a game second to a classy dropdown rival off the claim and he can move forward off that effort. (4) TIREMAN finally drew inside last out, was aggressively handled and tired; chance here with another decent post. (2) IM CONFIDENT returns at a slightly reduced level.
Race 8
(2) HICKORY HORACE gets a lucky draw here, picks up Brennan and will be ready to roll. (6) HERE WE GO AGAIN is a nice horse, but he's really had no excuse in all four of his local starts; camera-shy? (4) ART TWO D TWO has been solid since joining the Buter barn.
Race 9
(7) GIDDY UP DELIGHT could be a decent price from this outside spot in this wide open event. (5) BLUERIDGE WESTERN is an old classmaster who still poses a big threat. (1) BRADLEY SCOTT ran second when last seen here.
Race 10
(2) SHOW ME UP was a solid second here last month then freshened up nicely in the morning at The Meadowlands; he could be quarter-moving to victory here. (1) HOWYADOINPAL was in a tough spot in his 2011 finale; should be in line for a live trip tonight. (5) JIMMIE HANOVER could be a closing threat.
Race 11
(1) SAND SUMMERFIELD has been hard to fault since the Robinson claim; he draws best here with the price hike and he looks like a big threat from this spot. (6) PAN FROM NANTUCKET has been nothing short of awesome since arriving for Casie Coleman. (2) ANDY BARAN is another that's been sharp and he's hard to ignore.
Race 12
(5) GALLANT YANKEE beat a notch lesser last out and the classy gelding should have little trouble with these. (1) NOBLES GRAND SLAM can sit the pocket from start to finish. (2) SOUTHWIND TABOR can be counted on for a share from the inside post.
