Wipe the Slate, a son of Nyquist, finished second to the highly regarded Life Is Good when both debuted at Del Mar last November. Wipe the Slate came back to win a seven-furlong maiden race at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 before running last of six behind winner Medina Spirit in the Grade 3 Robert Lewis, also at Santa Anita. Wipe the Slate chased a strong pace that day and tired.
O’Neill said Kendrick Carmouche will ride Wipe the Slate.
As of Wednesday, the other confirmed Gotham runners were Freedom Fighter, Highly Motivated, Capo Kane, and One Fast Cat.
