Tapit Trice draws post 6 for Tampa Bay Derby

OLDSMAR, Fla. – Tapit Trice heads a field of 12 3-year-olds set to go Saturday in the lone Kentucky Derby qualifying race of the weekend, the Grade 3, $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby at Tampa Bay Downs.
Tapit Trice, trained by Todd Pletcher, will leave from post 6 with Luis Saez aboard in the 1 1/16-mile race. The gray Tapit colt will be making his stakes debut following a last-out allowance romp at Gulfstream Park.
The Tampa Bay Derby is the 11th of 12 races on a Saturday card that starts at 11:55 a.m. Eastern. Post time for the feature is 5:15.

From the rail, this is the field for the 43rd Derby:
Lord Miles, Classic Car Wash, Classic Legacy, Groveland, Mikey Bananas, Tapit Trice, Freedom Road, Dreaming of Kona, Shesterkin, Champions Dream, Zydeceaux, and Prairie Hawk.
The Tampa Derby is the last of five straight stakes on the day. The others are the Columbia (race 7), the Grade 3 Challenger (race 8), the Grade 2 Hillsborough (race 9), and the Grade 3 Florida Oaks (race 10).
FoxSports and FanDuel TV will provide live coverage of the main event.
The Tampa Derby is a 100-point qualifier (50-20-15-10-5) for the May 6 Kentucky Derby.
