Mischevious Alex to get shot at 1 1/8 miles in Wood Memorial

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Mischevious Alex, winner of the Grade 3 Gotham on March 7, will most likely make his next start in the Grade 2, $750,000 Wood Memorial here on April 4, trainer John Servis said Friday.

Mischevious Alex shipped back to the Palm Meadows training center in Florida on Monday and returned to the track on Thursday. Servis said that after further discussions with owner Chuck Zacney the decision was made to give Mischevious Alex a shot in the Wood at 1 1/8 miles.
“Right now, the Wood looks like the way we’re going to go,” said Servis, who stopped short of committing to the Wood the day after the Gotham. “He deserves a shot to go two turns and see how he handles it. If he does great, we’ll make decisions from there. If he doesn’t, we’ll regroup and make other plans.”
