Key contenders in Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint

Pure Sensation
Has been beaten just once in four starts on grass and will have his hand forced early breaking from the rail with plenty of other speed signed on to his outside. He did show the ability to win from off the pace earlier in his career and should be a major player if jockey John Velazquez can work out a decent trip from the rail.
Bobby’s Kitten
Defending champ’s return this season has not gone quite according to plan, but trainer Chad Brown said he’s coming into race physically better than last year, and Brown expects to see him closer to the pace than he was in 2014. Working well, would be no surprise if he pulls this off again.
Undrafted
Was given plenty of time off to recuperate from a winning effort at Ascot, got beat by a good one (Tourist) returning at a mile at Kentucky Downs, and reunites with jockey Frankie Dettori. Lots to like in this corner, although he’ll need a little racing luck working his way from off the pace in this bulky field.
Lady Shipman
She faces boys for the first time after coughing up a clear lead while drifting a bit during the latter stages of the Franklin County. She does get a big rider change going back to Irad Ortiz but is likely to be involved in what figures to be a very contentious pace scenario.

Joe Franklin
He’s perfect since being switched to the grass, but like many others in the Turf Sprint, he’s at his best either racing on or near the pace while taking a big step up the class ladder in this spot.
Green Mask
Yet another Wesley Ward trainee with a race under his belt since shipping to Dubai, where he turned in a big performance earlier this season in the Al Quoz Sprint. He has held his own in the morning with Undrafted, but is still looking for his first win in four sprint starts.
No Silent
California invader brings a three-race win streak into the race and may fly a bit under the radar from a betting standpoint. He has the style to take advantage of a contentious pace and should get first run over deep closers Bobby’s Kitten and Undrafted.
The Great War
Comes back on short rest, in less than two weeks, which trainer Wesley Ward said is not really his style. Ward added that the horse bounced out of his near miss in the Grade 2 Nearctic extremely well. He is another who figures forwardly placed from the second tier.
Ready for Rye
Versatile New York invader is undefeated since the spring and rallied to defeat The Great War, despite conceding six pounds when the pair met at this distance earlier this year in the Quick Call at Saratoga.
Mongolian Saturday
Speedster has proven to be a consistent sort, holding his form against top-quality opposition all year long, but he looks destined to get involved in the seemingly inevitable pace battle with little choice but to send early from the outside post.
