With his perfect record intact, Gotham Stakes winner Shagaf will continue down the Triple Crown trail with his next stop being the Grade 1, $1 million Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on April 9, trainer Chad Brown said Sunday.

Shagaf remained unbeaten in three starts with this victory, his first in a stakes and his first around two turns. He is the understudy for owner Shadwell Stable to Mohaymen, currently the ante-post favorite for the May 7 Kentucky Derby on the Derby Watch future line set by colleague Mike Watchmaker.

Songbird raced again on Saturday in the Santa Ysabel at Santa Anita and reminded everyone that, as much quality as there is near the top of this year’s 3-year-old filly division, this much remains the same as it ever was: There is Songbird, and then everyone else.
