Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for March 10, 2021
WHO’S HOT
The dazzling victory by Life Is Good in the San Felipe caused Marty McGee, who authors the Derby Watch top 20 betting line for the Kentucky Derby, to make Life Is Good the new favorite, down to 5-2 after being the 6-1 third choice last week. There are three newcomers to this week’s list – Crowded Trade, Helium, and Weyburn – and a returnee in Prevalence. McGee has Prevalence at 30-1, with the other three at 50-1.

WHO’S NOT
Four horses – Candy Man Rocket, Freedom Fighter, Roman Centurian, and The Great One – were dropped from the list after finishing fourth or worse in stakes races last Saturday. Owing to lowering Life Is Good so significantly, McGee had to raise the prices on a number of horses, most notably Essential Quality and Greatest Honour, who had been his top two choices. Essential Quality is up from 7-2 to 4-1, while Greatest Honour went from 4-1 to 5-1. Mandaloun, Keepmeinmind, Medina Spirit, and Rombauer also had their prices tweaked higher to account for the line move on Life Is Good.
ON THE BUBBLE
Dream Shake, third in the San Felipe to Life Is Good, and Known Agenda are two of the horses who just missed the cut, along with Hidden Stash, the Tampa Bay Derby runner-up. Others in the mix include Hush of a Storm, Rock Your World, and Soup and Sandwich. The lone points-scoring race this weekend is the Rebel on Saturday at Oaklawn, where the likes of Big Lake, Get Her Number, Hozier, and Super Stock will try to prove their mettle against Derby Watch members Caddo River, Concert Tour, and Keepmeinmind.
