Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for June 24, 2020
WHO’S HOT
There hasn’t been a Kentucky Derby favorite who started at lower than 2-1 since 2001, when Point Given was sent off at 9-5 when finishing fifth. If the Derby was run this weekend instead of Sept. 5, Tiz the Law would be lower than that, according to the current line of Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form, who has Tiz the Law down to 7-5 following his clear-cut victory last Saturday in the Belmont Stakes. Dr Post, the Belmont runner-up, tumbled to 10-1 from last week’s 30-1 and is now the fourth choice on McGee’s line. Max Player, who was third in the Belmont, is down to 20-1 from last week’s 50-1.
There are four newcomers to this week’s top 20. The unbeaten Cafe Pharoah – who could represent Japan – comes onto the list as a 30-1 shot. McGee has Creed, Mr. Big News, and Shivaree all at 50-1.

WHO’S NOT
Farmington Road, Gouverneur Morris, Mischevious Alex, and Tap It to Win all were removed owing to poor performances last Saturday, or recent injury.
ON THE BUBBLE
The Ohio Derby on Saturday drew an overflow field, including last year’s champion 2-year-old male, Storm the Court, who will be seeking to move back onto the list in a race worth 20 points to the winner on the system Churchill Downs uses to determine the Derby field. Casino Grande and Sonneman were both scheduled to run in an allowance race Thursday at Belmont Park and bear close scrutiny, as a big performance there could propel them to races like the Peter Pan, Haskell, or Travers next month.
