Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for July 15, 2020
WHO’S HOT
There are five newcomers to the Derby Watch top 20, but the most significant move was made by Art Collector, whose Blue Grass victory last Saturday propelled him to the third choice, at 5-1, on the Kentucky Derby line of Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form. Art Collector was 30-1 a week ago. New to the list are Rushie, who is 30-1, and a quartet of 50-1 shots – Dean Martini, Major Fed, Mystic Guide, and Shared Sense – not all of whom are certain to even run in the Derby, raising the possibility that there might not be a full field of 20 this year.

WHO’S NOT
Poor performances in races last week knocked Basin, Cafe Pharoah, Mr. Big News, and Shivaree out of the top 20, and Creed was removed because his connections are taking a conservative approach with the late-developing colt; he is not being pointed to the Derby. Owing to the significant price drop on Art Collector, several horses had to have their odds raised, including favored Tiz the Law, who ticked up to 2-1 from last week’s 8-5. Dr Post is 12-1 after being 10-1, Uncle Chuck is up to 15-1 from 12-1, and Cezanne is 20-1 after being 15-1. Enforceable, fourth in the Blue Grass in his first start in nearly four months, is 50-1 after being 30-1 a week ago.
ON THE BUBBLE
It’s getting late in the game for a horse to make a significant forward move and enter the Derby picture. Country Grammer is perhaps the most notable who could make a late bid. He was among those scheduled to run in the Peter Pan on Thursday’s opening-day card at Saratoga, along with Caracaro.
