WHO’S HOT Chance It, winner of the Mucho Macho Man last month and the likely second choice to Dennis’ Moment in the Fountain of Youth on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, makes his Derby Watch top 20 debut this week. He is 30-1 on the future line set by Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form for the Kentucky Derby on May 2. Silver Prospector, 20-1 last week following his victory in the Southwest, is now down to 15-1. Chance It replaced a horse who had been 15-1, so to adjust his line and make it balance McGee had to lower the odds on another similarly priced horse, and Silver Prospector was deemed most worthy. :: DERBY WATCH: Top 20 Kentucky Derby contenders with comments from Jay Privman and Marty McGee WHO’S NOT Structor had been under consideration for the Fountain of Youth but will miss the race, and his near-term status is uncertain. The winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf last fall, he never has raced on dirt, and though he had been working regularly in recent weeks at the Palm Meadows Training Center, he missed a work last week. His trainer, Chad Brown, said he had a “minor setback” and that he was “in the process of determining a new schedule for him.” So, he was removed from the list. ON THE BUBBLE The Fountain of Youth is the only points-scoring race this week, so several horses currently not on the list – such as Mucho Macho Man runner-up As Seen on TV – have a chance to move onto the list with a strong performance. Cafe Pharoah, winner of the Hyacinth last weekend, is now atop the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby list. If he remains there, and his connections commit to the race, he would be guaranteed a spot in the 20-horse field.
