Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for Aug. 26, 2020
WHO’S HOT
There have been no adjustments to the Derby Watch top 20 lineup or the odds penned by Daily Racing Form’s Marty McGee since last week. Tiz the Law remains the 6-5 favorite. Assuming his starting price will be no higher than 9-5, he will be the first horse to go off at less than 2-1 in the Derby since Point Given in 2001. The last odds-on favorite was Arazi in 1992. Entries for the Derby are to be taken Tuesday morning, and posts drawn later that morning.

WHO’S NOT
Trainer Todd Pletcher on Wednesday said he is leaning against running Dr Post. Rushie is heading to the Pat Day Mile unless there is an earthquake-like shake-up at the top of the charts between now and entry day. Both are still in the Derby Watch top 20. But if both defect, it’s looking increasingly likely, as we’ve noted in prior weeks, that this Derby field will have fewer than the maximum of 20 entrants, which would be the first time that has happened since 2003.
ON THE BUBBLE
Money Moves, who has zero points, was the only horse last week whom we listed as being on the outside looking in, but he’s also now unlikely to attend, further cementing the likelihood this year’s field will not reach the maximum of 20. In theory, others with no points could jump in, but barring a UFO landing on Central Ave. early next week there’s no one else being seriously considered for the race.
