Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for April 29, 2020
WHO’S HOT
Farmington Road, who most recently finished second in the Oaklawn Stakes on April 11 and is in the second division of the Arkansas Derby on Saturday, is the newest member of the Derby Watch top 20. He is 50-1 on the future line set by Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form for the Kentucky Derby, now on Sept. 5. Tiz the Law remains McGee’s favorite, at 3-1.

WHO’S NOT
Shooters Shoot, who won an allowance race at Oaklawn on April 11 on the Oaklawn Stakes undercard, was taken out of the top 20 after spiking a fever that will cause him to miss the first division of the Arkansas Derby on Saturday. As with many others who have been dropped from the list since the first one debuted in February, the Derby delay gives him plenty of time to regroup.
ON THE BUBBLE
Both divisions of the Arkansas Derby on Saturday are worth 170 points overall, with 100 for first and 40 for second, on the system used by Churchill Downs to determine the Derby field. So, horses like Anneau d’Or, Basin, and Silver Prospector – all of whom have been on the Derby Watch top 20 in previous weeks – are afforded good opportunities to get back onto the list.
