Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for April 1, 2020
WHO’S HOT
Tiz the Law is the new favorite on the line of Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form for the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby. He was the early favorite on the inaugural Derby Watch top 20 list back on Feb. 14, but subsequent performances by other horses, including Authentic and Nadal, recently had left others in the top spot. But Tiz the Law has returned there following his win last Saturday in the Florida Derby. He is 3-1, half the price he was a week ago. The only newcomer to the top 20 is Shivaree, who finished second in the Florida Derby. He is 50-1 on McGee’s line.

WHO’S NOT
Independence Hall was removed from the top 20 following the Florida Derby, in which he finished a distant fifth. Ete Indien, third in the Florida Derby, is now 30-1 on McGee’s line after being 12-1 a week ago. Gouverneur Morris, fourth in the Florida Derby, also saw his price raised. He is now 50-1 after being 15-1 last week.
ON THE BUBBLE
There are no points-scoring races this weekend, and in fact the only points-scoring race on the immediate horizon is the Arkansas Derby, now scheduled for May 2, so there should be little movement to the Derby Watch top 20 in coming weeks, barring an unforeseen setback. Churchill Downs has announced there will be more points-scoring races added to the Road to the Derby owing to the four-month postponement of the Derby, but those have yet to be revealed, with the uncertain schedules of tracks nationwide.
