LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With some two weeks to go before the 146th Kentucky Derby, fewer than half of the expected starters in the Sept. 5 race are on the grounds at Churchill Downs as travel plans begin to solidify for the balance of the field. As of this week, seven of the 20 likely Derby starters are stabled at Churchill – Attachment Rate, Enforceable, King Guillermo, Major Fed, Max Player, Necker Island, and Winning Impression. Two more are elsewhere in Kentucky – Art Collector is at the Skylight training center just east of Louisville, and Finnick the Fierce is at the Thoroughbred training center in Lexington. :: Play the Kentucky Derby with DRF! Two equine charter flights that will bring Tiz the Law and other Derby starters from New York are booked for Aug. 30 and 31, the Sunday and Monday before the race. Tiz the Law, scheduled to breeze Saturday at Saratoga in his first work since his Aug. 8 Runhappy Travers triumph, is expected to be on the second flight and will be stabled in the same Churchill barn with horses trained by Rusty Arnold. :: KENTUCKY DERBY 2020: Derby Watch, point standings, prep schedule, news, and more The others scheduled on the New York flights are Caracaro, Dr Post, and Ny Traffic. P., Rushie, Storm the Court, and Thousand Words from the West Coast. Sole Volante is expected to ship Sunday to Louisville from Florida for trainer Patrick Biancone, while travel plans from Canada are still to be determined for Shirl’s Speight.
