Kentucky Derby qualifying points up for grabs at Kempton Park
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEA quiet Wednesday at Kempton Park in England could help determine a Kentucky Derby starter.
Kempton hosts the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes on Wednesday, the penultimate race in the European Road to the Kentucky Derby. Five were entered, none of whom are among the leaders so far in the European Road to the Kentucky Derby, which concludes with the Cardinal Conditions Stakes on April 2 at Chelmsford City.
Points for Wednesday’s race are awarded 20-8-4-2 to the top four finishers, and the leading point-earner whose connections desire a slot in the 20-horse Derby field will be guaranteed one.

The Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes is carded at one mile on Polytrack, and the horse that stands out vis a vis Kentucky Derby prospects is New World Tapestry. New World Tapestry is owned in partnership between the Coolmore operation and the Niarchos Family’s Flaxman Holdings. He is trained by Aidan O’Brien and will have Ryan Moore aboard Wednesday.
New World Tapestry is a son of War Front and the good Galileo mare Tapestry and has one win among his four starts. New World Tapestry won a Newmarket maiden race in September and in his most recent start, on Nov. 1, finished eighth of 11 in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity, which had to be moved from a waterlogged Doncaster turf course to the all-weather track at Newcastle.
