Barbara D. Livingston Enforceable is the fourth foal out of his dam to win a graded stakes.

Enforceable

Tapit–Justwhistledixie, by Dixie Union Bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms

The road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby has been thrown into flux, but for now it continues with Saturday’s Grade 2 Louisiana Derby, with the regally bred Enforceable the favorite.

:: KENTUCKY DERBY 2020: Derby Watch, point standings, prep schedule, news, and more

Enforceable is by perennial leading sire Tapit, who holds the single-season earnings record for a North American sire, and who is already building another stellar season, tied for the lead among U.S. sires by graded stakes winners. Tapit has not yet sired a Kentucky Derby winner, but does have three winners of the Belmont Stakes, making him the only stallion in the modern history of the oldest American classic to sire that many.

Enforceable is out of the Dixie Union mare Justwhistledixie, who at the relatively young age of 14 has already produced four graded stakes winners. A stakes-winning 2-year-old, Justwhistledixie won the Grade 2 Bonnie Miss and Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes as a 3-year-old, and finished second in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes. Her first foal was New Year’s Day, a Street Cry colt who won the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Her other three graded stakes winners, Enforceable, Kingly, and Mohaymen, are all by Tapit. Mohaymen won a pair of Grade 2 events as a juvenile, the Nashua and the Remsen stakes, and then added a pair of Grade 2 stakes on the Kentucky Derby trail the following winter, the Holy Bull and the Fountain of Youth stakes. Kingly was a Grade 3 winner on turf last summer in California.

Justwhistledixie is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Chace City, as well as a half to Grade 2-placed Bakken and stakes-placed Dominant Jeannes. This is the extended family of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Shared Account – the dam of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Sharing – and the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Got Stormy.
