How to bet Penn National's Pick 4 - June 1, 2013

Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Penn National on June 1, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50 with a budget of $100.00.

Race 1 (The Silver Train HBPA)

ANN’S SMART DANCER (#5) comes off a romping win at PRX May 13 and after some good races that big run says she may well have turned the corner. DOROTHY AURORA (#1) comes off a string of good efforts. She’s 2 for 5 here and in one those wins beat ANN’S SMART DANCER. LISA STANNARD (#6) has done some good work here and beat ‘DANCER when 2nd in a stakes at PRX 2 months ago.

Race 2 (The Pennsylvania Governor's Cup)

BRIDGETOWN (#9) couldn’t handle BEN’S CAT (#11) at PIM a few weeks ago but that was his first start in over 6 months. He can improve off that. BEN’S CAT is all race horse and has won 5 of his last 6. CHAMBERLAIN BRIDGE (#7) remains a warrior at age 9 and while he’s just 1 for his last 11 he’s still run a number of good races in that timeframe. ICON IKE (#3) was on a roll before a dull run at CD May 4. A return to top form makes him scary.

Race 3 (The Mountainview Handicap)

RATTLESNAKE BRIDGE (#1) was 3rd in a Grade 3 at BEL April 27. He was no match for that for big 1-2 finishers Flat Out and Cross Traffic but that run looks better as those 2 came back to finish 3rd and 2nd, respectively, in Monday’s Grade 1 Met Mile at BEL. PANTS ON FIRE )#6) has been freshened and drops after last finishing 3rd behind Grade 1 types Cigar Street and Take Charge Indy.

Race 4 (The Penn Mile)

RYDILLUC (#7) was monstrous in his first 3 grass starts, romping in all 3. He didn’t run badly (4th) in the Grade 1 Blue Grass but has been freshened and is back to his game. CHARMING KITTEN (#8) darn near won the Grade 1 Blue Grass and then found the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby too much. He drops and returns to his best surface, too. NOBLE TUNE (#1) has fired nothing but bullets (4 wins, 1 2nd in 5 starts) and looks good as ever after a smart Grade 2 win at CD. JACK MILTON (#6) has shown quality winning 2 of 3 including taking a Grade 3 grass stakes at KEE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME (#4) was only a nose behind ‘TUNE in a grass race at TAM March 9 and got a shot at the Grade 1 Florida Derby.
