How to bet Gulfstream Park's Pick 4 - Jan. 26, 2013
Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 26, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50 towards my total budget of $100.00.
Race 8 (Forward Gal Stakes)
KAUAI KATIE would appear to hold all the aces. She found the company and distance of the G1 BC Juvenile Fillies a bit too much but she moved back to a sprint and dominated the Old Hat. No reason she can’t do it again here.
Race 9 (Maiden Special Weight)
FEDERAL AGENT moved to this course Dec. 21 for his 2nd start and the son of HOY Curlin took a huge leap forward to run 2nd. START UP showed fine speed when moved to this game at CRC Nov. 28 and fell just a neck shy of going wire-to-wire. TIMELESS INDY can benefit from his lone outing and a bullet work says he’s doing well. COWDRAY PARK wasn’t that far behind ‘AGENT (1 3/4 lengths) in his first turf try here Dec. 21. OVERWHELMING can surely do better. PARNELLI is well bred, cost a bundle ($300K) and may be ready off the bench.
Race 10 (Holy Bull Stakes)
SHANGHAI BOBBY, last year’s 2yo champ, makes his return and starts on the Derby trail. Even if he doesn’t turn into a Derby horse this trip should be right in his wheelhouse and he’s been working well. DEWEY SQUARE looks extremely promising for Romans. He was finishing strongly in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club. FRAC DADDY beat ‘SQUARE in that race (ran 2nd) to validate his superb maiden win. ITSMYLUCKYDAY looked super winning the Gulfstream Park Derby over this track at this trip and the Beyer (95) tops anything the top 3 have done.
Race 11 (Maiden Claiming Race
PETRO DEL VALLE and MONEY’S WORTH just finished a neck apart when 2nd and 3rd on this course Dec. 28. The former took a big step forward with the drop to this level while the latter has now run easily his best 2 races on this course. LOGAN STREET loomed a big threat as the favorite here Dec. 9 but didn’t sustain his run. That was his first start in 6 months, however, so he can improve. KING’S VISION may improve with a race over the course.
My wagers
With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four and end up well under budget at $92.00.
