How to bet Golden Gate Fields's Pick 4 - April 27, 2013

Here's my race-by-race rundown of Saturday's pick four at Golden Gate Fields on April 27, 2013. I'm building my wager with TicketMaker, found exclusively on DRF.com. I'm betting in increments of $0.50, and my budget is $100.00.

Race 6 (San Francisco Mile Stakes)

TIGAH (#1) may be ready to peak. His sharp 3rd in a very strong stakes at SA stamps him the one to beat. SUMMER HIT (#6) fires every time and comes off a big win at SA. He gets tested for class. GALLANT SON (#7) was 3rd in this last year and 2 strong local main-track sprints may have him ready for a top try. BARNEY REBEL (#5) flashed talent last spring. He hasn’t been seen since but has fired before off the bench.

Race 7 (Starter Allowance)

HE’S CAGEY (#9) has been knocking on the door of late and a sharp 2nd on this course April 6 hints he’s sitting on a win. MARY’S APP (#7) has blossomed in recent months. He’s up in class and while his only prior turf try was ugly but he’s bred for this and appears a much better horse now than he was then. DOWNTOWN C. T. (# flopped as the chalk in a turf race here April 6 but he’s capable of better. FLYOVERFAST (#10) has proven turf form and boasts a bullet work for his first start in a couple months. REDVETTE (#4) is winless in 11 tries on turf, yes, but he’s run a number of good races on this course.

Race 8 (Maiden Special Weight)

SHOWGIRL FORM (#2) may be your linchpin. She was a sharp 2nd on turf in her debut at SA March 2. She was only 7th in start No. 2 but wasn’t beaten far at all (2 1/2 lengths). She looks spotted for action. BLUE BLIZZARD (#1) set the pace in her first turf try and first route here April 7 before tiring to 4th. She can improve.

Race 9 (Maiden Claiming Race)

BACKSTREET BOSS (#6) takes a significant drop for a high-percentage trainer. It’s first time turf but pedigree-wise there’s no reason at all he shouldn’t handle it. ONE MINT JULEP (#8) invades from Florida where he showed flashes of turf talent. FRENCH DYNASTY (#7) has been knocking on the door on the main track at this level and if able to transfer that form to turf can be scary. O WILD WEST WIND (#4) is bred for turf (sire won the Group 1 English Derby) and comes off a decent 4th on this main track at this level.

My wagers

With TicketMaker I'm able to put greater emphasis on my "A" selections while still having coverage with my "B" and "C" picks just in case. This allows me to maximize my budget for this pick four and come out $4.00 under budget.
