How to bet the Belmont Saturday Pick 4
Here's my rundown for the Pick 4 at Belmont Park on Saturday, Oct. 15, that I built using DRF.com's TicketMaker. Screenshots from TicketMaker included below every race rundown so you can see how my ticket grows as I build it. Check out TicketMaker for yourself and construct your own winning Pick 4.
Race 7
TAWAARED has been facing tougher ever since breaking his maiden and has been quite competitive. He should relish the drop and his speed should have him in the thick of it from the start. MONASTIR was only 6th on the inner Sept. 18 but he had an impossible post (12) and blew the start to boot. He has a much better draw and more tactical speed than he showed last time. DEFLATIONARY FEARS hasnʼt raced on turf in over a year when he came within a nose of breaking his maiden on this course. He may be winless in 6 grass tries but donʼt let that fool you. He can handle it. LT. JOHN hasnʼt run since June 2010 but this 2-time grass winner has won before off a layoff and has worked well for his return.
Race 8
YUMMY WITH BUTTER may have a new lease on life at age 7. The veteran was always useful but he comes off 2 smashing Grade 3 wins at MTH and may be ready to take his game even deeper. CENTER DIVIDER did everything right in the Grade 2 Bowling Green here Sept. 10 but couldnʼt quite fend off winner Grassy, who came back to run well yet again (3rd in Grade Joe Hirsch). BOISTEROUS found 2 summer Grade 1 assignments too much to handle but heʼs been freshened and drops, which may be just what the Dr. ordered.
Race 9
UNBRIDLED HUMOR started her career with 4 wins before finding Zagora and co. too tough in the Grade 1 Diana. However, she bounced back with gusto to win the Grade 3 Noble Damsel on this course and while they closed the gap on her late remember the race was already in the bag and she was being geared down. DENOMINATION is a proven commodity as a 2-time Grade 3 winner. She hasnʼt run since May 30 but is proven off the bench. THAI HAKU was the one who closed the gap on ʻHUMOR in the final furlong of the Noble Damsel with a strong rally and that was her first U.S. try so she may improve.
Race 10
KNOCKOUT has been knocking on the door since the spring after returning from a lengthy layoff. Heʼs shown he can handle this game and the level suits. It may finally be his day to get that elusive diploma. PERNICE has had lots of chances to be sure (15) but at least many of his races were smart. He made a strong bold middle here Sept. 17 but gave way badly after having used up his fuel. A better timed run can make him a threat. CALGARY ENFORCER is stuck way outside, has never run on turf and never routed but heʼs shown talent, is bred for this and has worked well. CONCORDE COUNTY had 3 nice 2nds in 5 grass starts so this is his game.
