Further Ado, the runaway winner of the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes on Saturday at Keeneland who figures to be one of the favorites in the May 2 Kentucky Derby, closed at 17-1 in the final Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool, according to a list of odds released by Churchill Downs, the administrator of the pool. The final Future Wager pool closed at 6 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the running of three major Derby preps, including the Blue Grass Stakes. Further Ado won the Blue Grass by 11 lengths and was assigned a 106 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest figure for any 3-year-old this year. Renegade, the winner of the March 28 Arkansas Derby, closed as the 4-1 favorite, followed by Florida Derby winner Commandment, who closed at 7-1. Albus, the winner of Saturday's Wood Memorial, closed at 173-1. Like the Blue Grass, both races went off after the Future Wager pool closed.  Total handle in the final Future Wager pool, including win and exacta betting, was down 18.1 percent compared to last year’s final pool, at $393,707 compared to $483,121, according to figures provided by Churchill.   Two leading contenders for this year’s Derby, Ted Noffey and Paladin, were taken off the Derby trail due to injuries. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
