Dream Shake, Get Her Number on the fence for Derby

Dream Shake, third in the Santa Anita Derby on April 3, and Get Her Number, fourth in the Arkansas Derby on April 10 at Oaklawn Park, remain in consideration for the Kentucky Derby on May 1 at Churchill Downs, their California-based trainers said Wednesday.
Dream Shake is scheduled to start at Churchill Downs in the Kentucky Derby or the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile the same day. The partnership that owns the colt – Exline-Border Racing, Philip Hausman, and SAF Racing – and trainer Peter Eurton discussed options at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company auction in Florida on Tuesday, but have yet to finalize plans.
“We’re still mulling it over,” Eurton said. “It’s 50-50 still.”
Dream Shake was beaten 6 1/2 lengths by Kentucky Derby contender Rock Your World in the Santa Anita Derby at 1 1/8 miles.
Get Her Number, winner of the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita last September, was beaten three lengths by Super Stock in the Arkansas Derby at 1 1/8 miles. Trainer Peter Miller said Wednesday that Get Her Number’s participation in the Kentucky Derby depends on a workout Saturday at the San Luis Rey Downs training center in California.
“We’ll see how he breezes Saturday, and if he breezes well we’ll look at the Derby,” Miller said. “I need to see a solid work.
“His energy is good. He came out of the Arkansas Derby really well.”
Owned by Gary Barber, Get Her Number was a troubled seventh behind Concert Tour in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park on March 13 in his first start since the American Pharoah.
Miller said he has not finalized a jockey assignment for Get Her Number in the Kentucky Derby.

“We’ve got a couple of guys on hold,” Miller said. “We’re not going to rush that deal.”
Miller plans to send the turf sprinter Sombeyay to Churchill Downs for the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at 5 1/2 furlongs on April 30. Owned by Swifty Farm, Sombeyay led in the stretch and finished second by a neck to Gregorian Chant in the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes at six furlongs on turf on March 13 at Santa Anita.
