Charlatan entered in two-turn allowance Saturday

Charlatan, a dazzling debut winner last month at Santa Anita, has been entered in one-mile allowance race on Saturday at Santa Anita.
Charlatan got a Beyer Speed Figure of 105 when winning a sprint on Feb. 16.
He is on the same trajectory to this point as Justify, who won a maiden race in February 2018 and then went in an allowance race in his next start. He won both, then went on to win the Santa Anita Derby and the Triple Crown. Charlatan, like Justify, is trained by Bob Baffert. Many of the owners of Charlatan, including SF Racing and Starlight Racing, were among those in on Justify, too.

First things first for Charlatan. Among his rivals Saturday is Great Power, a highly regarded colt trained by Simon Callaghan who won his lone start last year and has been off since.
The mile allowance will be race 6 on an eight-race card Saturday whose feature is the Grade 1 Beholder Mile.
