Liberty Style ($2.28) looked every part of a New York Sire Stakes champion at Buffalo Raceway on Wednesday (June 10) as the 2-year-old filly defending champion had absolutely no issues in squashing the field in the $121,800 event for the 3-year-old distaff pacers. She easily toppled Surreal Spirit by a dialed-down 1-3/4 lengths in 1:55 over the fast track, with Taladega Express rolling in for third-place honors. After the NYSS Sire Stakes crown last season, the 3-year-old campaign for Liberty Style doesn't look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. She's been nothing but perfection through her first two starts in 2026 thus far. After taking the NYSS race at Saratoga on May 31 by 3 3/4 lengths in 1:52 3/5, Liberty Style was ready to face her seven worthy opponents at Buffalo Raceway. Firing off the gate from the two post, Liberty Style immediately stamped her dominance over the competition and made the trip around the half mile oval look like a public workout. Never leading by less than 1 1/2 lengths through fractions of 28 3/5, 58 2/5 and 1:27, Liberty Style enjoyed a comfortable 3 1/4 lead over Taladega Express (Leon Bailey) turning for home. There weren't any anxious moments down the stretch as driver Jason Bartlett took his foot off the gas with Liberty Style and posted the easy victory. Surreal Spirit (Jeff Gregory) rallied late for second-place honors, with Taladega Express third. Liberty Style (American Ideal-Fly In Style) is now two-for-two on the season. Owned by trainer Andrew Stafford and Bonnie Benson, Liberty Style has now collected $104,400 in earnings on the campaign and saw her career total rise to $422,909. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter There weren't any big surprises in the three $20,000 Excelsior Series for the ladies as 'chalk city' reigned supreme.
