Will they bounce? That’s the question handicappers must ponder when they examine a trio of Ohio-bred 3-year-olds coming back in three weeks or less after their Beyer Speed Figures suddenly rose between 22 and 34 points. Gliding Alone, Alliseeisgold, and Unbridled Graduate all improved dramatically last time out. Whether any of them can repeat that performance in Saturday’s $75,000 Tall Stack Stakes at Belterra Park is hard to gauge. The 6 1/2-furlong race for Ohio-bred 3-year-olds drew a field of nine, including a three-horse coupled entry from trainer Bob Gorham.

Bee A Magician earned over $400K during her four-year-old campaign and ended the year on a high note capturing the Breeders Crown at the Meadowlands. The five-year-old daughter of Kadabra returns to the scene of that triumph on Saturday night in a $50,000 Prep for the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial that will be contested on May 16.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on Wednesday approved a 24-hour threshold level for furosemide, a move that was made necessary by the commission’s decision earlier this year to allow tracks to write races that would include as a condition of entry a prohibition on the race-day administration of the drug.
