Annisquam (#7, ML 6-1) returns in Thursday’s second race at Los Alamitos Race Course, a six-furlong starter allowance. It will be her first start since finishing first by 2 3/4-lengths in a maiden race June 7 at Santa Anita. The fourth- and fifth-place finishers from that race came back to win their next starts.
Grade 1 winner Congaree will relocate to Lane’s End Texas in Hempstead, Texas for the 2016 breeding season for a fee to be announced later, American Racehorse reports.

Last fall, trainer Eric Ell and his owners were at the Harrisburg Mixed Fall Sale looking for a few horses to race in condition races in Delaware. Ell purchased a 3-year-old trotter named JL Cruze for $37,000 for owners Kenny Wood, Bill Dittmar, Jr., and Stephen Laquinta. Now that buy has turned into the best trotter in North America.
Gerald Dixon, who raced Remington Park standout Highland Ice, died on Tuesday, according to a release from the Oklahoma City track.
