It has been a hall of fame-worthy summer for Jake Delhomme. After starring for Lafayette’s Teurlings Catholic High School, then the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Ragin’ Cajuns from 1993 to 1996, Delhomme was a free agent NFL signee with New Orleans. He spent three years with the Saints before signing with Carolina before the 2003 season, which ended in the Super Bowl. He led 23 game-winning drives for the Panthers and holds Carolina records for pass yards and touchdowns. He collected 20,975 yards passing and threw for 126 touchdowns, completing 59.4 percent of his passes for three NFL teams in an outstanding career. For those exploits, Delhomme was one of eight new members inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony June 27 at the state-of-the-art Louisiana Sports and History Museum in Natchitoches.
