.R. Trout will be fielding an outstanding team Friday night for the $1 million Oklahoma Classics program of eight stakes at Remington Park. He has Oklahoma Derby winner Shotgun Kowboy in the $175,000 Cup; multiple stakes winner Imahit in the $130,000 Sprint; the undefeated Slew Hunter in the $130,000 Distaff Sprint; and her half-brother, Bring It On Dude, in the $100,000 Juvenile.
Mohaymen, a first-out winner for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, went four furlongs in 46.52 seconds on Wednesday in preparation for a start in the Grade 2, $200,000 Nashua at Aqueduct on Nov. 4.
El Kabeir, the leading 3-year-old around these parts during the winter, tuned up for his return to the races with a very fast six-furlong workout in 1:10.99 Wednesday morning over the Belmont Park main track.
Ready Dancer, who finished last in the Grade 1 Champagne on Oct. 3, was one of six horses entered Wednesday for Saturday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Futurity at Belmont Park.
The Todd Pletcher-trained Tango Time was one of 13 fillies and mares entered Wednesday to run in Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Athenia Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Belmont Park.
One of John Kimmel’s stable stars, Bar of Gold, spent the summer giving futile chase to Cavorting in major races in New York – and now that Cavorting is headed to the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, Kimmel is glad to dodge her by sending out Bar of Gold in the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes, the Saturday feature at Keeneland.

Less than a week away from Monday’s pre-entry deadline for the Breeders’ Cup, and it appears the $2 million Juvenile could attract a full field of runners. Larry Rivelli, the trainer of Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes winners Cocked and Loaded, isn’t really paying much attention to the potential composition of the field.
In the two years since the Maryland Million Turf Sprint was done away with at Laurel Park, trainer King Leatherbury has cross-entered Ben’s Cat in both the Turf and the Sprint, handicapped the races, and then opted for the Turf. Leatherbury has changed it up for Saturday’s Maryland Million Day card.
Trainer Andre Fabre confirmed he intends to run the mare Esoterique at Keeneland in the Breeders’ Cup Mile.
