Grade 3 Pegasus winner Mr. Jordan parlayed a romp in a maiden special weight at Monmouth Park into a win in the $100,000 Juvenile Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park West last year. He paid $3.80 for his three-length win in the Juvenile Sprint, and it was the shortest price among the four 2-year-old stakes races held on Sunshine Millions Preview Day last year. Brandy’s Girl, a 12 1/2-length winner of a six-furlong maiden special weight Sept. 26 at Monmouth, will try to emulate that feat when she runs Saturday in the $100,000 Juvenile Filly Sprint. Thirteen Breeders’ Cup races with big fields over two days usually produce some wacky results – a couple of winners who still make no sense after the race is over, some 40-1 shots clunking up to complete gigantic trifectas and superfectas, mystifying no-shows by big names. There was a stretch a few years ago when you could have turned a profit by betting every single entrant in every Cup race because the winners’ payoffs added up to more than $300. Not this year.
