Big John B and Big Macher, stakes winners at Del Mar during the summer, may start later this month in stakes after losses in Breeders’ Cup races at Keeneland last weekend.

The 6 1/2-furlong dash goes as the third race and is the first of four $100,000 stakes restricted to Florida-bred 2-year-olds as part of the third annual Sunshine Millions Preview Day.

Racing at different venues does not seem to hinder Seize the Win. In the last year, he has won stakes at Indiana Grand and Hialeah in the United States and Ajax Downs in Ontario.Seize the Win will start at Lone Star Park for the first time on Saturday in the $202,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship for Quarter Horses at 400 yards. The colt can win for the fifth time this year in his eighth start.
East Hall won the $100,000 Sunshine Millions Classic Preview as a 3-year-old last year. He has an excellent chance to defend his title Saturday in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up that headlines this year’s edition of Sunshine Millions Preview Day at Gulfstream Park West.
Thirteen Breeders’ Cup races with big fields over two days usually produce some wacky results – a couple of winners who still make no sense after the race is over, some 40-1 shots clunking up to complete gigantic trifectas and superfectas, mystifying no-shows by big names. There was a stretch a few years ago when you could have turned a profit by betting every single entrant in every Cup race because the winners’ payoffs added up to more than $300. Not this year.
