At the risk of sounding like a broken record (hey, vinyl is hip these days, incredibly), the New York Racing Association made the late part of Saturday’s card at Belmont difficult by slotting 2-year-old maiden special weight races as the last two races of the 10-race program.
Saturday’s featured eighth race is the Grade 2, $300,000 Gallant Bloom Handicap for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs. The expected odds-on favorite and horse to beat is Artemis Agrotera, a 3-year-old who dominated her elders in capturing the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 23.
The horses I like most from a wagering perspective on Saturday's card at Parx Racing are Your Pace Or Mine in the third race, a 2-year-old maiden at a mile and 70 yards, and Sunset District in the seventh, a first-level allowance at seven furlongs.
Short fields are the norm for the night’s dirt races, at least over the first two-thirds of the card. But the eighth race, a third-level allowance with an $80,000 claiming condition, is a fine race, both in quality and depth.

Friday’s third race, a statebred allowance for fillies and mares at one mile, features some talented runners. Mike Hushion sends out the coupled entry of Girlabouttown and Star Grazing. The former’s only loss came over a muddy track in her debut, and she overcame a bumbling beginning to win her most recent start at Saratoga over Blithely, a filly who returned to win here earlier in the week.

I thought it would be interesting to find trainers at Churchill Downs who reward bettors most when their horses are well regarded at the mutuel windows.
Low-level conditioned claimers will line up in the finale, and the massive carryover for the Jackpot Hi 5 should live for another day if one of the two droppers from Ontario-sired company prevails.
