Keeneland’s Saturday card is a solid one. It features some long-distance turf performers in the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes as well as the 3-year-old debut of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny.
Papacoolpapacool has won his last two starts heading into Saturday's fourth race at Santa Anita, the 1 1/8-mile turf La Puente Stakes. Since Jan. 1, 2014, trainer Philip D'Amato is winning at a 32 percent clip when saddling a horse coming off a win, for a return on investment of $3.96.
Little Miss Julia (#6, ML 6-1) will return to action in Saturday's ninth race at Gulfstream Park, a six-furlong optional claimer. It will be her first start since a second-place finish by 2 3/4 lengths in a six-furlong race Feb. 20 at Gulfstream Park. The first-, fourth-, and fifth-place finishers from that optional claimer came back to win their next starts.

This week, we have two “Bet This” plays plus a “Not That” one. Again, let’s use DRF Formulator to look at a few plays around the country. Formulator allows you to see the lifetime past performances of horses who have run in the past five years for any trainer who has horses entered, as well as charts, replays, filters, and more. With access to this database and with one-click access to replays, it can allow you to see some things that aren’t readily available to the betting public.
A key horse in the Grade 3 Santa Barbara (race 7) gives the pick three involving races 6-8 some appeal. The mare gives us a chance to take a stand and doesn’t figure to be too short a price to boot.
Atomicseventynine will return to action in Friday’s fourth race at Santa Anita, a one-mile optional claimer. It will be her first start since a first-place finish by 5 1/4 lengths in a one-mile race March 28 at Santa Anita. The second- and third-place finishers from that maiden race came back to win their next starts.
Stellar Path makes her North American debut in Friday’s second race at Aqueduct, the one-mile turf Plenty of Grace Stakes. Since Jan. 1, 2014, trainer Christophe Clement is winning at a 35 percent clip when saddling first-time starters in North America, for a return on investment of $2.74.
