To get a feel for which horses might be flying under the radar this year, I sifted through past performances and race replays and came up with six horses who have the potential to make some noise on the Derby trail and perhaps in the big race itself.
We have some Grade 1 stakes action Saturday, that courtesy of the $402,000 Hollywood Starlet at Hollywood Park. And another lucrative juvenile stakes Saturday night is the $300,000 Remington Springboard Mile at Remington Park. But after the Starlet, the only other graded stakes on the schedule is the Grade 3, $100,000 Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Where have those 120 Beyer horses gone? I miss them. You should, too.

Rescue Squad now seems primed for a peak performance third start back off an 11-month absence in Saturday's Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park, and if he cycles back to his best Beyer Figures, it would make him competitive with the Beyers most of the others here have been getting lately.
