There is one stakes favorite on whom I plan to wager Saturday: Zo Impressive. The reason is an obvious one, she’s likely to be only a narrow favorite in the six-filly Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga.

Although Zo Impressive was the better horse when she won the Mother Goose by three-quarters of a length, and In Lingerie scored over her at Pimlico in May, I like Disposablepleasure this time in the Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga.
This summer at the races has been bizarre, but with Saratoga, Del Mar, and Monmouth in the offing all is not lost.
Michael Hammersly's weekly "Trip Notes" report, which this week includes stakes races from Saturday, July 14, 2012 and Sunday, July 15, 2012. Some of the highlights are Betfair Hollywood Park's American Oaks and Belmont Park's Man o' War Stakes.

Surprisingly, a long-term capital gain in the stock market and the Arlington pick five actually share something in common. They’re both currently taxed at a maximum of 15 percent, which in the world of taxes/takeouts, leaves more in your pocket and less in those of others.

As tough as the Arlingtonr Handicap looks, I’m going with the relatively unaccomplished Sky Blazer.
Michael Hammersly's weekly recap of the previous weekend's stakes races. In this report, he covers stakes that occurred on Saturday, July 7, 2012, including the Hollywood Gold Cup at Betfair Hollywood Park and Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park.

It isn't easy to find an overlaid contender in a typical seven-horse field, especially when three of the leading contenders just raced against each other. But good opportunities can occasionally be found. Sunday's Grade 2, $300,000 Dance Smartly, a 1 1/8-mile turf race for fillies and mares at Woodbine, is a race I plan on betting on.
