The shine is off Newsdad, and at 7-2 the price looks right in a five-horse field for Saturday's Bowling Green at Belmont Park.
With the close of Saratoga and Del Mar, Saturday’s national stakes schedule takes on a more democratic feel, with room for other tracks to take the spotlight. For example, Louisiana Downs, with the Grade 2, $500,000 Super Derby, and Presque Isle Downs, with the Grade 2, $400,000 Presque Isle Downs Masters, have the two richest races of the day.

Handicappers will find a full menu of stakes races to enjoy at Saratoga, Del Mar, and Monmouth on Sunday, including four graded stakes. Some of these races figure to be competitive, while a single-combination exacta bet might be all you need in a couple of the others.

Saratoga has two Grade 1’s Saturday – the $750,000 Woodward and the $500,000 Forego, plus the grade 2, $250,000 Bernard Baruch – and Del Mar hosts the first Grade 1 race for 2-year-olds of the year, the $300,000 Del Mar Debutante.
Being right at the racetrack doesn't always mean you're going to get paid what you expected.
