Airdrie sires enjoying strong Triple Crown

Creative Minister, by Creative Cause, continued a solid spring for the Airdrie Stud stallion roster as he finished third in the Preakness Stakes.
Grade 1 winner Creative Cause, third in the 2012 Preakness, entered stud at the Jones family’s Airdrie in 2013. The son of Giant’s Causeway is also the sire of Grade 1 winner Pavel and graded stakes winners Identifier, My Boy Jack, Significant Form, and Skyler’s Scramjet.

Creative Cause is the broodmare sire of Grade 1 winner Zandon, who is out of the stallion’s first foal, Memories Prevail. Zandon, bred, raised, and sold by Airdrie, is from the second crop of Airdrie’s sire Upstart. Zandon finished third in the Kentucky Derby, giving Airdrie stallions classic-placed runners in the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Upstart is also the sire of multiple graded winner Kathleen O., who faced her first defeat when fifth in the Kentucky Oaks, and multiple Grade 1-placed Reinvestment Risk.
Airdrie stands 10 active stallions, with the stalwarts on that roster Creative Cause and Cairo Prince, who has three stakes winners already this year. Cairo Prince’s sons Smokin’ Jay and Honey Pants both were stakes placed last week at Pimlico.
