Many of the most important stakes races conducted in North America last year went through jockey Flavien Prat, who led all riders in graded wins as part of his push for a second straight Eclipse Award as outstanding jockey. He also became one of two riders to ever surpass $40 million in mount earnings in a year, alongside Irad Ortiz Jr. The new heights were reached in part by Prat winning 46 graded stakes races in 2025. He led his peers in Grade 1 wins with 13; Grade 2 wins with 15; and Grade 3 wins with 18. Overall, Prat’s mounts earned $40,496,178 to rank second to the single-season record of $40,497,847 achieved by Ortiz. Prat won a total of 310 races from 1,256 mounts last year, ranking fourth in the category, also led by Ortiz. Prat’s first Grade 1 win of the year came with Carl Spackler in the Maker’s Mark Mile in April at Keeneland and his run at the level continued all the way through Nov. 30, with Segesta in the Matriarch at Del Mar. :: Full list of 2025 Eclipse Awards finalists, including profile stories In between, there was the Fasig-Tipton La Troienne with Raging Sea; American Turf presented by Ford with Zulu Kingdom; Shoemaker Mile with King of Gosford; Belmont Oaks Invitational with Fionn; Dunkin’ Diana with Excellent Truth; Whitney with Sierra Leone; Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer with El Cordobes; Del Mar Futurity with Brant; and the bet365 Summer with Argos.
