Affirmed Success playing Poker again

ELMONT, N.Y. - A severe storm tore a fence down and knocked the power out at trainer Richard Schosberg's Long Island home Sunday. Schosberg hopes his 7-year-old gelding, Affirmed Success, has the same affect on six rivals in Wednesday's $100,000 Poker Handicap at Belmont Park.

Big Bambu touches down again

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Few horses have accumulated as many frequent flyer miles as Big Bambu, who ships in for Wednesday's $75,000 Regret Stakes for fillies and mares at six furlongs.

Big Bambu, based at Thistledown in Ohio, has run at eight different tracks in the Midwest and East in her last 10 races. And yet she shows no signs of jet lag, having finished in the money in all but one of her 12 lifetime starts.

"Her demeanor and disposition enables us to do that with her," trainer Alan Sobol said.

This pick six guaranteed to be a puzzler

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Bettors failed to solve the pick six at Hollywood Park on Sunday, leaving a record one-day carryover of $691,095 for a tricky program on Wednesday.

Because of the Fourth of July holiday and a two-day buildup, the track expects bettors to bet as much as $3 million into Wednesday's pick six.
