Macho Uno

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Macho Uno, equipped with blinkers, worked five furlongs in 1:00.21 Sunday morning at Saratoga as he begins preparation for his next start, which will come in the $500,000 Pennsylvania Derby at Philadelphia Park Sept. 3.

It was Macho Uno's first workout since finishing second in an allowance race here on opening day. In that race, Macho Uno, last year's 2-year-old champion, had to be saddled on the move in the paddock and acted up at the gate. In the race, he veered in and out during the stretch and got beat a nose by Wicked Will.

Handle soars along with heat, humidity

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Matt Robertson looked as if he had dunked his arms in a bucket of water just before entering the winner's circle after the Claiming Crown Emerald.
