MUSKEGON, Mich. - Elusive Hour invades from Mountaineer Park to take on Hola C Bright and eight others in The Little Ones Stakes at Great Lakes Downs. The $45,000 Little Ones is a six-furlong event for Michigan-bred juveniles and will go as the fifth of nine races on a card that begins at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
Elusive Hour was a ridden-out winner in his only start, a maiden special weight race at Mountaineer. Michael Rowland will again ride the Elusive Quality colt for trainer Charlie Williams.
ALTOONA, Iowa - Trainer Niall O'Callaghan will attempt to win a stakes with a shipper for the second straight weekend at Prairie Meadows when he sends out Bold Bluff against Iowa-bred Sharky's Review in the $50,000 Central Iowa Stakes on Saturday night.
Last Saturday, O'Callaghan sent out Woodmoon to an easy victory in the $100,000 Prairie Meadows Handicap. On paper, Bold Bluff looks more imposing than did Woodmoon as she faces six other fillies and mares in the 1 1/16-mile Central Iowa.
Sept. 7 was already designated as a special date at Delaware Park. Three stakes, all worth at least $100,000, were to be contested that afternoon as part of the Owners' Day festivities.
It may turn out to be an exceptional day at the track if trainer John Salzman follows through with his tentative plan to bring champion filly Xtra Heat to Delaware.
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan - Good Old Sprite should be the lowest-priced favorite on Saturday's Heritage Day card featuring four $10,000-added stakes restricted to Saskatchewan-breds.
Good Old Sprite will face five rivals in the Shortgrass Heritage, a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year old males, and six sophomore fillies will compete in Parkland Heritage at the same distance. Each 2-year-old division has a race at 6 1/2 furlongs.
ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Waltzin' Storm, unbeaten in two starts this year, will form a powerful Mark Casse-trained entry with Davids Expectation in the $173,250 Play the King Handicap at Woodbine Saturday.

FERNDALE, Calif. - Speed has been extremely effective on Ferndale's tight-turned half-mile track, but trainer Ron White hopes that distance will overcome the front-running basis when he sends out Hello Lila in the $10,000 Don Harmon Memorial-Les Mademoiselle Stakes Saturday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - As awesome as England's Legend was in the Beverly D. last year, that's how dreadful Astra was. As England's Legend sped off to a resounding victory, Astra floundered finishing 24 lengths behind as the odds-on favorite.
Therein lies a paradox, because both before and after the 2001 Beverly D., Astra clearly was the better horse.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Suspense and intrigue were held to a minimum when post positions were drawn Wednesday for the three Grade 1 turf races, headed by the Arlington Million, comprising the International Festival of Racing, which will be run Saturday at Arlington.
With more than a quarter-mile of wide turf course before the first turn, and with sweeping turns that allow for tactical flexibility, post positions are little more than a formality in the Million, Beverly D., and Secretariat.
