Prom Date gets Tomball win via dq

Prom Date was named the winner of the $40,000 Tomball Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday night after winner Coastalota was disqualified interference in the stretch and placed second. Lady Mallory finished third in the Tomball.

Coastalota led throughout the mile and a sixteenth race for Texas-bred fillies and mares, covering the distance in 1:46.95. She finished a length and three-quarters clear of runner-up Prom Date.

Sellers enjoys big night at Delta

Destiny Calls (gray) hangs on to win the $150,000 Louisiana Premier Night Distaff by a neck over Legs O'Neal, one of three stakes wins for jockey Shane Sellers on Saturday night at Delta Downs.

Jockey Shane Sellers dominated the $1 million Louisiana Premier Night at Delta Downs on Saturday night by winning the $200,000 Championship with Spritely Walker; the $150,000 Distaff with Destiny Calls; and the $100,000 Sprint with Zarb's Luck.

The stakes were three of the richest on the Louisiana-bred program, which featured 10 races worth a cumulative $1 million. There were nine winning favorites on the card, and handle for the night was $2.1 million.

New Economy makes her final start

OLDSMAR, Fla. - Several runners with promising futures and one graded stakes winner making her final career start are among the 14 fillies and mares who passed the entry box for the rescheduled Endeavour Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Tuesday.

The $100,000 Endeavour, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for fillies and mares which was originally scheduled for Saturday, was moved to Tuesday because bad weather was forecast for the area over the weekend.

Irish Warrior all out in BC Handicap

PHOENIX - Irish Warrior needed to call upon all his class to get up in the final strides and win Saturday's $150,000 Turf Paradise Breeders' Cup Handicap over sharp local campaigner Black Bart.

The Turf Paradise BC Handicap was the headliner on a card that also included the $100,000 Turf Paradise Derby and the $75,000 Arizona Oaks. The stakes tripleheader drew a large crowd for Turf Paradise of over 5,400.

Santa Anita Carryover at $157,836

ARCADIA, Calif. - Large fields and losses by all six favorites at Santa Anita on Saturday has led to a pick six carryover of $157,836 for Sunday's program.

Sunday's pick six covers the fourth through ninth races. There are two sprints, two route races and two one-mile races on turf. There are no late scratches.

The fourth race is for maiden claimers over 5 1-2 furlongs. Oh So Sultry and Award Winning Team are top contenders. Oh So Sultry has been second in two of his five starts. Award Winning Team was eighth in his career debut in November, his lone start.

ARCADIA, Calif. - More than nine months after being acquired privately in the days before the Kentucky Derby, Domestic Dispute overcame trouble to post an upset in the $300,000 at Santa Anita.

Domestic Dispute ($30.60) rallied from seventh in the final furlong to win by a neck over During, who is trained by Bob Baffert.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Alke continued his rapid rise among the nation's top sprinters by outracing Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Cajun Beat to capture Saturday's Grade 3, $100,000 at Gulfstream Park.

Alke's ascension has coincided with his transfer to trainer Todd Pletcher, who has sent out Alke to four consecutive victories. The Deputy Minister was his first stakes try since joining Pletcher's barn. Because of that, he was generously weighted for the Deputy Minister, carrying 112 pounds, 11 less than Cajun Beat.
