See How She Runs tries turf

BOSSIER CITY, La. - See How She Runs, a stakes winner of $585,490, will start a new chapter in her career Saturday when she makes her turf debut in the $50,000 Honeymoon Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

A one-mile race, the Honeymoon drew 11 fillies and mares including stakes winners Sea Bloom, Due to Win Again, Tiva's Little Sis, Tincan Too, and Cherylville Slew.

See How She Runs has worked well for the race, going five furlongs in 1:02.40 at Louisiana Downs on May 6.

Rogers still has faith Oglala Sue is a runner

Trainer Mike Rogers spent $75,000 to claim Oglala Sue for owner Anthony Lenci in February. Although she was beaten nearly 18 lengths in her only start for her new connections, Rogers isn't ready to write off Oglala Sue as a bad investment just yet.

Rather than looking to cut his losses by dropping her sharply in class, Rogers has confidently entered Oglala Sue in Saturday's $75,000 Sweet N Sassy Handicap at Delaware Park.

Private Horde has work cut out

After tangling with nationally renowned sprinters Lion Tamer and Speightstown in Kentucky in his last two starts, Private Horde seeks what would seem to be easy pickings in West Virginia.

Saturday's six-furlong Waterford Park Handicap at Mountaineer Race Track came up far stronger than the track's usual $75,000 stakes, however.

Charles Town: Rich Find ships in

Kentucky shipper Rich Find appears dangerous in the $50,000 Rhododendron, a seven-furlong stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Charles Town.

Trained by Greg Foley, Rich Find ran back-to-back solid races going one mile at Turfway Park, which should prepare her well for a two-turn seven-furlong race on a bullring.

Sweettrickydancer long overdue

MIAMI - As a 2-year-old, Sweettrickydancer was the dominant member of the south Florida filly and mare turf division. But after winning the Tropical Oaks to celebrate her third birthday on Jan. 1, 2003, Sweettrickydancer suddenly went off form.

Sweettrickydancer's losing streak has stretched to eight straight races since her victory in the Tropical Oaks. But her recent performances give every indication that drought will finally end Saturday when she is part of a full field of fillies and mares in the $40,000 Liberada Handicap at Calder.

Harbour Gate faces host of tough locals in six-furlong Almy

EAST BOSTON, Mass. - When Harbour Gate started the year, his connections hoped he would race with the best 3-year-olds in the nation. But now that he has landed at the home track of his owner, he instead will face this region's best older sprinters, in the $40,000 William Almy Jr. Stakes.

Harbour Gate made a splash at Gulfstream in January with a six-length victory that put him on some early Kentucky Derby lists. But a drubbing in the Hutcheson Stakes behind Limehouse forced his trainer, George Handy, to regroup.

Cowboy Stuff back in John Wayne

ALTOONA, Iowa - It only seems fitting that a horse named Cowboy Stuff heads the field in the John Wayne Stakes on Saturday night at Prairie Meadows.

Cowboy Stuff figures as a prohibitive favorite in the $60,000 John Wayne, a six-furlong event for Iowa-bred colts and geldings, just as he was last year, when he finished second behind Take Me Up at odds of 2-5.

Canterbury: Familiar foes favored

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - The $40,000 10,000 Lakes Stakes, a six-furlong race for Minnesota-bred colts and geldings, is the first stakes of the two-day old Canterbury Park meeting and features some familiar statebred rivals.

Canterbury Park co-owners Curtis Sampson and Dale Schenian are each represented by a runner, and they will vie for the favorite's role.

River Downs: 'Outrageous' ships up

Outrageous Queen and Salvester, 3-year-old fillies who have made a collective 39 career starts, are the likely favorites in the $45,000 Tomboy Stakes. The Tomboy, the first stakes of the River Downs Meet, is restricted to Ohio-breds and will be run at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

Outrageous Queen and Salvester have each had long campaigns, but they've proven to be durable and, if anything, they enter the Tomboy in the best form of their careers.

Evangeline: Old Lee tops Rayburn

CARENCRO, La. - Old Lee, entered against older company in the John Franks Memorial Stakes on Friday at Louisiana Downs, runs instead in Saturday night's B.B. "Sixty" Rayburn Stakes against fellow Louisiana-bred 3-year-olds at Evangeline Downs. A one-mile race, the Rayburn Stakes drew a field of eight and is worth $40,000.
