Few spots for Misty Sixes

Trainer Steve Klesaris is searching for a graded stakes restricted to fillies and mares. Preferably, the race will be contested at a distance between a mile and 1 1/4 miles - and run over a dry main track.

Though Klesaris hasn't specified the level of competition, a Grade 3 would be a better fit than a Grade 1.

But there's very little that fits the description for the next couple of months, not only at Delaware Park, but anyplace else on the East Coast.

Chez Audra has taken to turf

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Trainer Mike Farro hopes for a cleaner start than last time out for Chez Audra in the $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes on Saturday at Monmouth Park.

The 4-year-old filly stepped up to stakes company last time out in Monmouth's Betsy Ross. She made a strong inside run to get third following a bump at the break in the five-furlong turf stakes.

Abderian will need his class

Nearly all successful turf sprinters possess high early speed. But not Abderian.

Contrary to how most winners in five-furlong sprints run, Abderian prefers to lag far back early and come charging late. His style has worked well enough to win nine races and $347,423.

Royal North lures shippers

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The Royal North has attracted its share of shippers the past few years, and Monday's renewal of the six-furlong turf handicap for fillies and mares is no exception.

Boozin' Susan, based in Maryland with trainer Michael Dickinson, already is on the grounds, having checked in Wednesday.

Dyna Da Wyna, currently at Saratoga with trainer Elliott Walden, and Glowing Breeze, trained in Maryland by Graham Motion, are scheduled to arrive over the next few days.

With Patience, another Marylander, also might come for the race.

Juveniles get another local go-round

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan - A field of eight will do battle in the $17,800 Saskatchewan Futurity at Marquis Downs on Saturday.

The contestants will be running six furlongs in the race, restricted to 2-year-olds who are Canadian-bred or out of Canadian-owned mares.

Royal Reblar upset Fargo Forbes over four furlongs, scoring a one-length victory in 48:42 seconds here July 16.

Lenatareese may not have to work so hard

Fifth with a furlong remaining in a turf allowance July 5 at Churchill Downs, Lenatareese seemed a beaten filly, but was not. A powerful turn of foot through the stretch brought her from fifth to first, and she won by a length under a hand ride.

Less than four weeks later, she is in seemingly a better situation in Saturday's $75,000 Audubon Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at Ellis Park.
